In January 2004, I’ve followed my wife Patrice, who
would participate in a congress in Helsinki. Soon
after we went, on some friends’ invitation,
to Lapland, the region in the north of Scandinavia,
best known for its reindeer and a legendary resident.
This collection is an unassuming record of this
place, and above all a study of the impact, especially
at the height of its winter, in his absence, in
human, sounds and colors. These images of peace
and silence, in my view, rely heavily on the format
in which they were captured.
